A true classic dessert, this easy apple crisp recipe is reminiscent of those cozy day by the fire. Pop this apple crisp in the oven and wait for the delicious smell to waft through your kitchen!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c Whole Wheat Flour

  • 1/3 c All Purpose Flour

  • 1 c Rolled Oats

  • 1 c Brown Sugar

  • 1 tbsp Cinnamon

  • 3/4 tsp Nutmeg

  • 1/4 tsp Salt

  • 1 c Unsalted Butter

  • 2/3 c Sugar

  • 2 tbsp Lemon Juice

  • 1/2 can Apple Slices, #10 can.

  • 3/4 c Water

Directions

  • For topping: Combine flour, rolled oats or rolled wheat, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg (optional), salt, and margarine or butter. Mix until crumbly. Set aside for step 6.
  • For filling: Drain apples, reserving juice. For 50 servings, add enough water to juice to make 1 ½ cups liquid.
  • Place apples into pan.
  • Sprinkle topping evenly over apples.
  • Cover with foil, creating slits in the foil for the steam to escape. Bake until topping is browned and crisp:
  • Conventional oven: 425° F for 20 min or until lightly browned. Remove foil and bake at 425 degrees for an additional 20 min or until browned and crisp.
  • HACCP
  • Food prep areas, Equipment, and utensils, to be used in recipe will be washed and sanitized prior to beginning the preparation and cooking.
  • Assemble all ingredients, utensils, etc. to be used in recipe within easy reach of prep area so that food safety can be managed more effectively as well as better control of contamination and cross contamination.
  • Remove frozen product from freezer using oldest pack date first.
  • CCP: Take and record on a temperature log all beginning temperatures of refrigerated foods before beginning the recipe.
  • Wash hands thoroughly before handling food, after handling contaminated food or objects, and before switching to another step where there is an opportunity for contamination. This applies as well to before and after glove use.
  • Use clean pair of gloves when handling raw product. Replace gloves after handling any other object.
